Vietnam: “Online Visa of 3 months” Draft Law Proposed to the National Assembly for Approval

HANOI - Minister of Public Security To Lam presented the revision draft of the Law on Immigration of Foreigners in Vietnam to the National Assembly on 2nd June 2023 at its ongoing congress. If passed, the max duration of online visa granted to foreigners shall be increased to 03 months; and duration of temporary residence for foreigners entitled to unilateral visa exemption shall be increased to 45 days.

RELATED:

At the current regulation, the online visa (type HN, DL, EV) to Vietnam has a limit duration of not exceeding 30 days, while the max duration of visa exemption is 15 days. So, the draft law is intended to lift the respective duration by three times.

The move seems to be an effort by the government to encourage more foreign visitors to Vietnam after the Covid-19 epidemic.

At the discussion session, most delegates expressed their consent to the draft law. However, it would take until near the end of the congress (around Mid-end of June) for the draft to be voted for approval.
