A Fokker70 departing from Hanoi landed at Chu Lai Airport on 02 June 2010 as the first flight on the Hanoi-Chu Lai route. Vietnam Airlines in collaboration with Quang Ngai and Quang Nam Authorities organized a ceremony on the same day to celebrate this event.Minister of Transport Ho Nghia Dung was among the first passengers traveling on this flight. His presence showed the strong support of the government as to the opening of this route. Frequent commercial lights between Noi Bai airport and Chu Lai airport from now on are expected to help expand the flight network and the business of Vietnam Airlines, offer more choices for the local people, tourists, investors while traveling between Hanoi and Quang Ngai/Quang Nam, enhance cultural, trade, investment exchanges between the three regions of the nation, and make Dungquat EZ, Chu Lai EZ more reachable in the eyes of investors.
To help maintain this long-expected air route, Quang Ngai and Quang Nam Authorities have offered some forms of assistance to both the airliner and passengers.
