Vietnam: All international regular routes to be resumed as before the epidemic

In order to prepare for the reopening of tourism for international visitors before March 31 under the direction of the Government, the  Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam decided to lift the restriction on operating frequency applied on international routes. Accordingly, all flights to and from Vietnam shall be soon back to normal as before the Covid-19 pandemic.

Regular international flights are back

From February 15 2022, Vietnam Airlines began to reopen all international regular routes to countries after nearly two years of closure.

The nation’s Civil Aviation Authority as quoted by local newspaper said that  the resumption of international regular flights still needs the agreement with partner countries because each has different epidemic-related requirements. After receiving feedback from the partners, the Authority will grant flight permits for domestic and foreign airlines to bring passengers in and out of Vietnam based on each airline's suggestions.

Before this, the Government already gave green-light on reopening some international routes (phase 1) since January 1 to some key markets such as Tokyo, Seoul, Taipei, Bangkok, Singapore, Vientiane, Phnom Penh, San Francisco/Los Angeles … More routes shall be resumed soon, including to Australia, Russia, the UK, France and Germany.

So far, most of the international routes to Vietnam are operated by Vietnam Airlines, Bamboo Airways and Vietjet Air.
